Leo Brincat – an insult to the European Court of Auditors
You’ll find it useful to read this leading article in The Malta Independent. It describes how, in two other cases when the EU’s Council of Ministers ignored the European Parliament’s vote and approved candidates for the European Court of Auditors, those two individuals have been left to sit on the sidelines at the Court of Auditors, given no tasks and more or less ignored and brushed off by their colleagues in the Court.
This means that Leo Brincat will now, similarly, face a few years of oblivion until his term expires, which is why the leading article is called ‘Happy retirement, Leo Brincat’. But the thing is that people like him don’t care – are actually relieved when they have no work to do and no responsibilities – because all they’re interested in is the salary and pension.
The way somebody like Brincat sees it, he’s fallen into clover: a large salary for no work.
