Politico has published a report about how Leo Brincat will face awkward questions when he is interviewed for membership of the European Court of Auditors on Monday.
He will have to explain, the report says, why he backed Konrad Mizzi in a no-confidence vote in parliament. The story concludes with the paragraph: This is the second attempt by the Maltese government to get a candidate onto the 28-member court, which describes itself as “the independent guardian of the financial interests of the citizens of the Union.” MEPs rejected the candidacy of Toni Abela earlier this year over concerns he helped cover up drug use in a Labour Party social club.
