Elvis has become really good at leaving the building

The Prime Minister sneaked out through a side door yesterday to avoid the small crowd of journalists lying in wait for him by the proper exit.

They had converged there after Konrad Mizzi tried to wriggle out of admitting in court that there is no actual audit of his affairs by telling the cross-examining lawyer: “Ask the Prime Minister.”

But the Prime Minister clearly doesn’t want to be asked any more now than he did months ago when first confronted by journalists about the subject.

He was also asked about it a few days ago, and his response to a question about when this putative audit report is to be published was: “These things take time.”

Meanwhile, it is fascinating to see how the stress and worry of their uncovered corruption has affected them both so differently: the Prime Minister has shed so much weight in such a short time that he looks like an inflatable from which somebody pulled out the stopper and then changed his mind, while Konrad Mizzi, who was so gangly just three years ago, now looks like a prime candidate for coronary blockage.
