Malta government issues statement saying French customs officers were on crashed plane/France Customs (Douane) says it is not true

The Malta government has issued a statement claiming that French customs officers were aboard the plane that crashed this morning at Luqa airport, killing all on board. I’m listening to the speeches in parliament now, and the Prime Minister has just repeated that, dismissing all allegations to the contrary, and insisting that yes, it was French customs.
But France’s Customs office (Douane) has tweeted clearly that it is not true at all, while thanking all those who sent messages of concern and condolences. See below.
