The Muscat government’s skyscraper vision is inspired by Panama City

Because of the Muscat’s government’s ongoing love affair with Dubai and other parts of the UAE, we mistakenly concluded that this is their inspiration in their determination to change the skyline with skyscrapers, particularly around the Sliema/St Julian’s area.

But that was before we found out what they were up to in Panama. And as you can see from these photographs, their real inspiration is Panama City.
