It’s not surprising that Cyrus Engerer quite fancies working for Justin Trudeau

He’s a damn sight more attractive than Joseph Muscat. But that isn’t the explanation why Engerer shows up on Linked In as an employee of the Canadian Prime Minister’s Office. That reason is carelessness, lazy typing and lack of even the most basic technical know-how.

When you begin typing the words ‘Office of the Prime Minister’ in Linked In, the first on the list of automatic selection choices is Canada’s. If you’re too lazy to type ‘Office of the Prime Minister, Malta’, Justin Trudeau’s outfit is automatically selected for you.

Now, when you click on the words ‘Office of the Prime Minister’ in Engerer’s employment list, you get this. And he’s also coming up in automatic searches on employees at Canada’s Office of the Prime Minister (see below).

Cyrus Engerer isn’t the only one, either: a bunch of Maltese government employees have made the same lazy mistake, and put down the Government of Canada as their employer on Linked In. Perhaps they’re as hopeful as Engerer of relocating.

You can even see the Canadian government’s coat of arms on Engerer’s profile. As the reader said who alerted me to this farce: “I mean, come on. I know it’s nothing next to the day’s scandal, but these people together are being paid millions.”
