The post-fact society, British Labour and anti-Semitism

You would think that a raging debate on anti-Semitism in Britain’s Labour Party would not be possible without mentioning the rather important fact that its last leader – Corbyn’s predecessor – was Jewish, and not merely Jewish, but the son of continental Jews who were Holocaust refugees in England, and whose families died in the concentration camps.

Yet the debate on anti-Semitism in British Labour howls on with no mention of Ed Miliband. How weird is that? It’s happening because we now live in s post-fact society. It doesn’t matter that the Labour Party elected a Jewish leader and almost elected his (Jewish) brother. It is anti-Semitic and Corbyn is doing nothing about it.

Corbyn is a useless leader, but the distortion of facts to undermine him is bad for public life. There are enough real facts to get him on.
