300 students? Try harder at impressing us
Joseph Muscat went to Putin’s Russia for a spot of investment-drumming-up, and has just released the first impressive results: 300 Russian students will be coming to study in Malta (and he doesn’t even say where, what or how long).
That should get the economy turning over when he stops selling passports to other Russians – and there were more than 300 of those at the last count.
Those of you with an eye for detail will have noted that, on this investment-raising trip, as with all others, he travelled with a delegation from the Chamber of Commerce and a few businessmen – and not with the Finance Minister, the chief of the Malta Financial Services Authority and the deputy governor of the Central Bank, as he did when he went to New York and tried to pretend it was for ‘investment’ when all the while it was to try (and fail) to rescue relationships with US correspondent banks.
