“Let’s have a handshake and get rid of these people”: Malta’s Foreign Minister to British Foreign Secretary, about Maltese journalists

Journalists were asked in to the first five minutes of Foreign Minister George Vella’s meeting with British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson in Valletta today. Nothing was said during this preamble except for the usual pleasantries, and Johnson refused to take questions. Vella compounded the rudeness of his guest to journalists on his own home turf by saying, supposedly quietly but within audible range of those journalists: “Let’s have a handshake and get rid of these people.”
