Prime Minister’s chief of staff away from Malta for secret medical treatment
The Prime Minister’s chief of staff, Keith Schembri – who hit the headlines in a series of epic scandals throughout the past year – has been absent from the Prime Minister’s side, most notably during the visit to Malta by the Dutch and Slovak prime ministers a few days ago.
Sources informed this website that Schembri was in London for medical tests and was then sent on for further attention to the United States.
Schembri’s phone went to voice-mail when attempts were made to contact him about this. The following text message, sent to Kurt Farrugia, head of government communications, was left unanswered. He always answers promptly and civilly, and the only time one of my text messages met with a blanket of silence was when I asked him to confirm – months before the tender – that Oxley Capital had reached agreement with the government to run Malta’s public hospitals.
Apologies for disturbing on a Sunday morning. I am told that the Prime Minister’s chief of staff was/is in London for medical tests and that he is being sent/has been sent to the US for further tests or treatment. I have tried to reach him directly for confirmation but his phone is off. Please would you clarify the situation?
