Tourism Minister flunks passport-scanner test

The Tourism Minister, who now wishes to be known as ED ZL, is in London for the World Travel Market. At lunchtime today, I received an email from somebody who was on the same flight to London as he was.

I’ve just landed at Heathrow and a couple of big cheeses were on the same flight. Before take-off, we peasants in cattle class were warned over the sound system not to use the lavatory up front. The reason turned out to be that Edward Zammit Lewis, Gavin Gulia and the Minister’s PA were in business class.

Unfortunately for him, the Minister didn’t get any royal treatment at UK Border Control when he couldn’t figure out how to use the passport scanner, particularly the complicated instruction to look directly at the camera (he looked about him and smirked instead).

So he figured out that there must be something wrong with the scanner instead of something wrong with him, and he queued up at another scanner before shouting out loudly: “How duzz dizz werrrk?” This is the man who is going to solve the Air Malta crisis.
