ED ZL parties with Elena and Angela F while Air Malta nosedives and Alitalia goes bust
The ridiculous and increasingly portly and pompous ED ZL, the minister responsible for Air Malta, is busy racing (after a fashion) from one festive gathering to another, congratulating himself on his social life and his in-demand status, while Air Malta hovers on the brink of destruction and Alitalia, with which he claims to be in talks for the purchase of Air Malta, is given a 60-day lifeline.
Harold Macmillan, the British prime minister, famously said of those he governed, in 1957, that they had never had it so good. In Malta, 60 years later, it the governed who should be turning that cry on its head and yelling at the scoundrels, charlatans and backwoods-dwellers who govern us: “You’ve never had it so good.”
And they haven’t. Just watch them, spending all the money they never had, taking all the trips they never took, being chauffeured by the Jameses they never employed in the cars they never had, going to all the parties they only ever got to see with their noses pressed up against the glass, and eating all the sweets that mummy always told them she couldn’t afford, while chasing all the girls (or boys, as the case may be) they never got to chase in their MUSEUM-duttrina-tar-rahal years, wives and husbands notwithstanding.
The sooner these gallivanting, fornicating, face-stuffing scoundrels and charlatans come crashing back down to planet Earth, the better for us all – and for them too. Their rotten souls and cankered minds are deteriorating by the day.
