Education Ministry messages parents at 4am on a public holiday

The Ministry of Education mass-messaged what appears to be all parents of school-age children at around 4am this past night, startling many of them, to tell them that tablets will be delivered to children in Year 4 only against signature, and to please sign page 5 of a document and send it to the school.

Some of the parents took screenshots of the messages and sent them in, and I reproduce a few below. One of them said: “Can you imagine the panic they’re in?”

The Minister of Education is currently embroiled in a big corruption scandal involving his vote-canvasser, nine million euros in cheques which he hand-delivered to contractors, bribes and a block of flats he built without a bank loan when his only legitimate income is his government salary.
