Forget the bigger picture – some people only care about their backyard
There’s been a long litany of corruption scandals perpetrated by this government in the last four years, but when did Super One star, professional dumb blonde and evergreen 50-year-old teenager Moira Delia ever voice her opinion in protest? Never – until, that is, she woke up to find her Paceville flat in the path of the Prime Minister’s bulldozer.
Now, all politicians are bad and terrible, and her Facebook page is fizzing with anger about what “politicians” (not Labour politicians, mind, and certainly not Muscat) are planning to do to the home she has worked for all her life. Who are these “politicians” who are planning to wreck your home, Moira? Go on, tell us.
I sympathise, of course, though I believe that this Paceville master plan is all just so much wishful thinking, because how can it happen in reality? But it is rather amusing seeing this die-hard lifelong Malta Labour Party supporter, born to dyed-in-the-wool Mintoffian parents, who had sent me the most incredibly spiteful email in the 2008 general election, in defence of her hero Alfred Sant, now squealing crossly because of what the man she voted for plans to do to her flat.
Say the words, Moira: “Labour bastards”. It doesn’t hurt. Now you’ve found out what some of the rest of us have known for a lifetime. But of course, if they call off the plan, “politicians” will be nice again and Labour will get your vote in 2018 like it got your vote in every election before that. Who cares about corruption, Keith Schembri, Konrad Mizzi and Panama, the hospitals and the power station? It’s me, myself and I, all the way.
