Health Minister says: Labour will win general election by 40,000 votes

While the Prime Minister mopes on about being the underdog, Chris Fearne, who replaced Konrad Mizzi as Health Minister earlier this year, was on a roll in Zejtun a couple of days ago. Speaking to his constituents in Zejtun, he said that Labour will win the next general election by 40,000 votes.

Labour won the last general election by 36,000 votes, and has been going wild raiding the sweet-shop ever since. With a 40,000-vote majority on top of that, they’ll be doing Super One reporters in full public view on beds of bank notes in the day and doing coke all night with the world’s crooks and shysters, while stuffing their secret bank accounts with their 10-year get-away money.

Would I be surprised if Labour has an even bigger victory after all this corruption, cronyism and abuse? No, because the Malta Labour Party has always been the truest reflection of the worst elements in Maltese society, spanning the social spectrum. As those worst elements become the predominant elements, the Labour Party wins a bigger voter base and more and more people identify with it.

At this stage, nothing will surprise me. Many of those people professing disgust at this government are quite happy to sell its passports, after all. Others are quite happy to collude in the mess where it pays them personally, and to pretend that nothing wrong is happening. How is it possible, you ask? Oh, it’s very easy. The mind works to protect itself from reality.

And I don’t know how you feel about it, but I don’t think a prominent doctor with many patients from all walks of life should behave this way. He’s speaking as though his patients (or their parents, rather, given that he is a paediatrician) are all rabid supporters of the Malta Labour Party and will be delighted with his attitude, feeling very comfortable with him when they next pop in for treatment. It’s just so out of order.
