No more state aid permitted for Air Malta – but it hasn’t stopped Mr and Mrs ED ZL from partying

The Malta Independent reports today that the European Commission will permit no further state aid for Air Malta, which has long gone past the deadline for getting its act together.

But instead of helping it get its act together, this government has shoved it further into bankruptcy – and the minister in charge of solving its problems is a completely useless Edward Zammit Lewis, a man with no experience in anything other than bumbling about town as an average lawyer.

He and his wife Elena have spent the last four years partying relentlessly, going to every cocktail event, reception, wedding, lunch, tea and supper and – until it became embarrassing to be seen with them following the Panama Papers scandal this year – spending part of every weekend with their then ‘best friends’, the Prime Minister and Mrs Muscat.

Only last night they were at a big Christmas bash hosted by Vitals ‘Global Healthcare’, the start-up company to which Konrad Mizzi has signed over three of Malta’s public hospitals.

There is no solution in sight for the national airline and its army of employees.
