The situation in Poland is actually much better than it is in Malta

The European Commission has started a rule-of-law row with Poland on matters to do with the independence of its courts of justice. It has had another battle with that member state already on the basis of too much government control at its public service broadcaster.
Malta has the same issues, and much worse, but they’re ignored, while the outgoing Commission president celebrates Malta’s corrupt prime minister and welcomes Konrad Mizzi.
