We know already that in another corrupt crony-deal organised by Konrad Mizzi’s Projects Malta, the land on which the Institute of Tourism Studies stands will be sold to Labour Party donor and backer Silvio Debono, who shares a retained consultant, Lou Bondi, with the Prime Minister and now, the Malta Arts Council.

Debono and his business associates will pay just €6 million for the land, but the government will then have to spend around €70 million more than that to relocate the catering college to Ricasoli, an extremely inconvenient location for students.

The figure was revealed in parliament yesterday, when Tourism Minister ED ZL, who is responsible for the catering college, replied to an Opposition question about how much the move will cost. A conservative estimate of the cost of moving the college from its present location to Ricasoli, he said, put it at €74 million. And ED ZL was particularly keen to emphasise that the move will not be handled by his ministry, but by Projects Malta – in other words, by Konrad Mizzi.

The Institute of Tourism Studies site has been given to Labour Party donor Silvio Debono for the construction of these towers of flats. He will pay just 6 million euros.
