Finance Minister in Twitter spat with Sueddeutsche Zeitung/Panama Papers journalist

What was that they were saying on their billboards only recently – about welcoming 2,500 journalists and putting Malta in the spotlight?

Now they’re fighting with big-name journalists who work for important newspapers, in the Twitter spotlight, and accusing them of writing their article for the sole purpose (wrongly called ‘scope’) of “bullying and denigrating” Malta.

Any minute now and they’ll be accusing Frederik Obermaier of “spreading hate”. They’ve already accused him of spreading “lies”. Lucky he’s not a woman or they’ll be calling him a witch. And lucky he works for one of Germany’s most influential newspapers, because otherwise half the Maltese cabinet would be all over the television and Maltese newspapers, saying he’s not a journalist.

They must be feeling so empowered by Donald Trump.
