Some people become defiant and tell them where to stuff it, reminding the government of its rightful place in society. Others go into survival mode, feeding the tiger in the hope that it won’t eat them, being nice, currying favour and ‘managing the situation’. Those are bad ideas. People out there are really fed up, and they want to see that reflected in the newspapers they read just as they want to see their anger and contempt channelled by the Opposition. It isn’t everyone who is on a roll selling or renting property to those who buy residence visas or passports. We’re not all building skyscrapers and we don’t want to either.
