Unprofessional, emotional and over-involved: Chris Cardona’s “private secretary” tweets her hurt and anger

Try not to make it too obvious that you’re not just his private secretary, Dana, or that you’re in love with your boss. You’re behaving like one of those blind wives who refuses to believe that her husband went to a brothel and who lays into the person who told her instead.

Mario Frendo might be young, but I don’t think he’s too young to understand the well-spring of your hurt reaction, which is probably why he’s responding gently to your unprofessional behaviour.

Do try to remember that you are the ‘private secretary’ to a cabinet minister, and not the cabinet minister’s girlfriend, whatever he might have led you to believe to the contrary. A private secretary’s place in these circumstances is to keep her mouth shut and stay out of it, while taking phone calls, fixing meetings, responding to emails and keeping his diary. It is not to tweet insults at members of the public and journalists.
