If a week is a long time in politics, then four years are a lifetime

It’s hard to believe that this is the same self-satisfied, preening individual who waddled up the steps to the Prime Minister’s Office, his face coated in foundation make-up, in March 2013, and who then spent the next three years smirking sarcastically at members of the Opposition and journalists, giving ‘tu quoque’ comebacks to anybody who dared challenge him with a difficult question or told him something he didn’t want to hear.

He’s a mess now – the defiance, self-satisfaction, arrogance and ‘I know something you don’t’ smugness all gone. All that’s left are narcissistic rage and the narcissistic wound that fuels it. The cockiness with reporters? Gone. They have the upper hand now, and he knows it.
