He will not resign, which is why it is imperative for the electorate to boot him out

He did not resign when he was discovered to have conspired with Konrad Mizzi and a third person to set up companies in Panama and trusts in New Zealand, just days after coming to power.

He did not resign when he was discovered to have had companies in the British Virgin Islands and other secretive jurisdictions, concealed from the Maltese authorities, at the time he came to power, which were discovered only through the Mossack Fonseca tranche.

He did not resign when he was discovered to have been secretly colluding with the managing director of Malta’s most influential newspapers, in the three years leading up to the general election and the three years which followed, with companies in the British Virgin Islands set up in concert with each other, concealed from the Maltese authorities and from the board of directors of those newspapers.

So why would he resign now? Keith Schembri, Konrad Mizzi and Joseph Muscat, and the cabinet they control, do not believe they are accountable to the electorate. Their view of democracy is perverted: that of a dictator who uses the democratic process to gain control of a country.

It is now up to the electorate to boot them out and to make sure that this never happens again.
