Silvio Debono is scum. Stop enabling him. Have some pride and decency.
So it’s not only the Nationalist Party’s deputy leader and one of its MPs who have been taking money from that corrupt fixer Silvio Debono. It’s the actual Nationalist Party itself. No wonder they thought it was OK for Mario Demarco and Francis Zammit Dimech to work for that scum and take his money until the whole thing escalated to boiling point and blew up yesterday. And now suddenly, it’s not OK anymore because of the tidal wave of public disgust and anger.
Couldn’t they have seen this coming? It’s better to go without money at all, or look for it elsewhere, than to take it off dirt like that. Yes, dirt. Silvio Debono is not a legitimate business operator. He’s a sleazy crook who crawled out of the gutter by systematically buying up political influence on both sides of the house and even outside it. Even the current Finance Minister was on the board of one of his companies for some years. He’s got it all sewn up. He has access everywhere, with anyone who matters, for all the wrong reasons.
Simon Busuttil said on television earlier today, at the start of the Nationalist Party’s unfortunately timed fund-raising marathon, that he was “shocked” to receive a message from “the CEO” of Debono’s outfit asking for their money back. He correctly read this as a reaction to his announcement a couple of hours earlier that he will be asking for the St George’s Bay land deal to be investigated by the Auditor General.
But he incorrectly read it as a threat. It wasn’t a threat. It was retaliation, which is completely different and utterly, but utterly, predictable bogan behaviour. That is exactly why savages like Silvio Debono, who can barely write his name, should be avoided at the outset. They are not normal businessmen. They are crooks and fixers who think they can buy everything and everyone, and who turn nasty, dangerous and aggressive when they’re thwarted or don’t get what they want.
That kind of throwing their weight around is typical – and it’s exactly why politicians shouldn’t take money off people from the gutter who made too much of it the wrong way. Their parameters are different.
People like Silvo Debono don’t donate money to political parties and politicians to further the democratic cause. They donate money to SUBVERT DEMOCRACY. They buy themselves into such influence with both political parties that they end up more powerful than the parties themselves. And it’s time the Nationalist Party and electors in general told them to go and f%%k themselves, using their 500-euro notes and their cheque books as a sex aid.
The Opposition leader shouldn’t have said he was shocked. He should have foreseen that he himself would be shocking people with the news that the party has been taking money off that scabbed wart. What conclusions are people expected to draw from that and the fact that the Opposition’s criticism of the way the government gave that land at St George’s Bay to Silvio Debono, on a silver salver, has been tepid at best?
Tepid, that is, until now that the issue has been forced out into the open and finally, swords have been drawn. Busuttil has declared war at last on that godawful project, and Silvio Debono has declared war on Busuttil.
Debono issued a press release this evening saying that he didn’t donate money to the Nationalist Party, that the Nationalist Party “requested the money”. This is so disingenuous that I don’t know where to begin. Money that is not given as a loan or in payment is a donation, whether you were asked for it or offered it of your own accord. Four weeks ago, a crowd-funding campaign was run for me in response to Minister Cardona’s precautionary warrants on my bank account. The money was requested, but it was donated.
Debono made it sound as thought the money was requested in the manner of protection money or tithes, which shows how his mind works. If he didn’t want to give it, he didn’t have to. And the Nationalist Party shouldn’t have asked for it at all. It is blatantly obvious that a nasty, vulgar, crass and unscrupulous aged guttersnipe like Debono does not give anything away for free and does not care who is in government as long as his personal interests are furthered and well-served – and democracy and political ideology be damned. Because, of course, like John Dalli and Joe Gasan, and George Fenech who went before them, he has a coffin to fill with cash.
I’m glad this happened now, that it has all been forced out into the open. This poisonous boil has got to be lanced, the system cleaned out. And for God’s sake will everyone in politics stop being so impressed by gutter-bogans with money they couldn’t possibly have made under their own steam and without the help of political influence because they’re simply unfit and barely literate.
People like that have turned Malta into a horrible place and they’re only going to make it worse if they’re allowed to carry on whipping their vassals in the political parties with their strings of loose change.

A monument to everything that is wrong with Malta.
