Labour leader falsely claims “Let’s keep it decent”

The Labour leader said, at the opening session of the Labour Party’s annual general conference tonight: “I would never allow people who are under my control to attack the Opposition leader’s family.”

Ah, so that would be why his chief communications aide at the Office of the Prime Minister, Glenn Bedingfield, wrote blog-post after blog-post, and uploaded photograph after photograph, of the Opposition leader’s sister, invading her privacy, describing her behaviour when she was unwell, and delving into the finer details of her marital difficulties, while encouraging the animals in the zoo he calls a comments-board to rip her to shreds and make fun of her.

That would also be why the Prime Minister’s communications aide makes fun of the Opposition leader’s girlfriend and encourages his readers to do likewise.

“Let’s keep it decent,” the Labour leader said, hypocritically, even as he pays a senior communications aide to do little other than write appallingly indecent – sometimes verging on crazy – blog-posts from his seat right next to his office.

Muscat said he was cross because the Opposition used a photograph of his wife and children to make a political point. “My wife is in the public eye but my children are not,” he said. Of course his children are in the public eye.

The only reason we know exactly what they look like is because he and his wife are forever parading them before the public, having their picture taken with famous people, and tweeting the results round the globe. They even take them out of school for the purpose.

I wonder what the Commissioner for Children has got to say about the Prime Minister and Mrs Muscat’s use of their children as publicity tools. Only today I read a news article in which she raised the alarm about children being used in political campaigns, when they are too young to consent and their parents are pushing them into it.

The Prime Minister is such a decent man, and holds decent behaviour in such high regard, that when one of his foot-soldiers and spies raided his ex-boyfriend’s hard-drive and emailed the naked sex-pictures he found there to his ex-boyfriend’s boss and office colleagues, and wound up with a two-and-a-half year suspended prison sentence for his efforts, the Prime Minister created a Brussels post specially for him at ambassador rank and appointed his new boyfriend chef de cabinet to Malta’s permanent representative in that city.

The Labour Party’s television station and news site carries a story about how the Muscat children met Prince Harry, using a photograph which the Prime Minister tweeted round the world.
