Look how brazenly they lie while threatening journalists with libel suits

This video was taken on 26 February last year, a few days after this website revealed that Konrad Mizzi has a company in Panama and a trust in New Zealand. The country was in uproar.

Journalists lay in wait for the Prime Minister and then followed him out of the building when he gave unsatisfactory answers to their questions. In the video, Mario Frendo of Net News is heard asking the Prime Minister whether he and his chief of staff, Keith Schembri, know anything “that we don’t”. Muscat immediately goes on the defensive, bridles, and threatens Frendo, saying that he is exposing himself to a libel suit.

At that stage, nobody knew or even dreamed that Keith Schembri has exactly the same Panama/New Zealand structure as Mizzi. But the Prime Minister obviously knew, hence his hostility.

I broke the news about Schembri’s Panama/New Zealand outfit the very next day, and people were then able to see the Prime Minister’s behaviour for what it was: defensive fear.
