Money-laundering facts + documents: how Konrad Mizzi made sure we would never find out

When Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi decided to set up a secret company in Panama, his corrupt accountants at Nexia BT ensured that, on public record, this company would be owned by a front company.

Konrad Mizzi’s company is called Hearnville Inc, and the front company is ATC Administrators, which is owned by Mossack Fonseca and used for this purpose.

They then signed a secret agreement declaring that all the benefits of the company are due to Konrad Mizzi. When his trust in New Zealand – also set up for secrecy – was ready, Mizzi switched the ownership of Hearnville Inc over to that trust, for even greater secrecy.

He never wanted anybody to find out – not the Maltese public and certainly not the Maltese authorities. And this when he was a member of the Maltese government, a senior cabinet minister.
