Are pollsters now also campaigning?

I received this email today:

Just to inform you that yesterday somebody from Malta Today phoned my daughter, 20, asking her how she will vote on 3rd June. Because she was studying for an online ACCA exam, she asked them to phone again in 2 hours’ time.

I found that very odd – that while phoning for survey purposes they take the opportunity to influence her choice of political party.
