Godfrey Farrugia: elected to Parliament on the Nationalist Party ticket, despite leaving the Labour Party just four weeks before the general election

Marlene Farrugia: elected to Parliament on the Nationalist Party ticket, despite being elected on the Labour ticket in 2013

Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando: stood for election at the 11th hour on the 7th District when he found out that Godfrey Farrugia was going to do that; failed to be elected on 3rd June and failed again in yesterday’s casual election, despite being elected on two districts with more than 5,000 votes on the Nationalist Party ticket in 2008. Total number of votes this time: 500.

Standards in public life: the Malta Council for Science and Technology’s executive chairman celebrating the Labour victory at his home with two employees of the council he chairs, one of whom is his girlfriend who he put on the payroll there as his personal assistant. This being Malta, that kind of thing is considered entirely normal, as it is for a state council chairman and his girlfriend to post vulgar public insults and taunts at journalists who scrutinise them (while celebrating the victory of a political party).
