Today Public Policy Institute dissociates itself from Martin Scicluna’s defence of Muscat’s corruption
The Today Public Policy Institute has issued a statement in which it dissociates itself from its former director-general, Martin Scicluna, who has written an absurd column for the Times of Malta in which he glosses over and even seeks to defend the corruption of Muscat’s government.
The members of the Institute say that while they respect his right to a political opinion, they cannot respect or agree with the political opinion itself because the Today Public Policy Institute stands for good governance and the rule of law.
On the eve of the 2013 general election, Scicluna had written a column for the same newspaper, which he titled Time For A Change To Labour. He would vote for Muscat, he said, praising him to high heavens, and encouraged others to do the same. He has never got over the damage to his ego of being proved so badly wrong and not wanting to admit it.
So now he is encouraging us once more to do as he will do on Saturday: vote for corruption, the decimation of institutions, the near-total erosion of the separation of powers, and wall-to-wall abuse.
