Adrian Delia’s third lie of the day, and how prostitution flats in Shepherds Mews and Stanhope Row were sold to buy 78 Dean Street in Soho

Look at this excellent piece of Jesuitical argumentation. He instructed lawyers in the UK to safeguard his clients’ interests.

That’s right, he did. And I’m grateful he confirmed it. His clients wanted to have other people collect the prostitutes’ takings on their behalf from 52 Greek Street and 1 Bateman Street rather than the people who had been collecting the takings to that point. So legal issues arose. It was all masked as ‘tenants’ and ‘rent’, and it was anything but that.

Then there was the matter of other flats part-owned by his client, Eucharist Bajada, in Shepherd Market, Mayfair (Shepherd Mews) and Stanhope Row, which were also used for prostitution. Emanuel Bartolo, known as Leli Landlord and a convicted member of the Maltese crime syndicate in Soho, was a part-owner of these flats and not happy to find himself co-owner with Eucharist Bajada.

Bajada bought out Leli Landlord and eventually sold on the Shepherd Market and Stanhope Row flats as a going concern. This was around 2006. He used the money to buy 78 Dean Street, Soho, not long afterwards, for around £3 million.

No. 78 Dean Street is registered to Gemcrest Corporation, and its officers are Mary Bajada (Eucharist’s wife), Mario Murgo (a convicted criminal and Malti ta’ Londra who is Eucharist Bajada’s righthand man) and Alexandra Bajada (Eucharist’s daughter).

That house is a listed Georgian building. Soon after it was purchased, Mr Bajada began to convert the interior into small cubicles or rooms, using the services of his brother, Emanuel Bajada. Because it is a listed building and protected under the law, the authorities moved in, fining Mr Bajada and obliging him to take the interior back to what it was. It was then restored beautifully and is now divided into four flats which are rented out on booking.com and other similar travel sites for visitors on above-board stays.

Also, Adrian Delia makes it sound as though he cast about for UK lawyers on behalf of his client. This is not so. The lawyer in question – Roger Pitts-Tucker, who was suspended by the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal, and Wilson Barca – were Eucharist Bajada’s lawyers already. In fact, the title to 52 Greek Street passed from cabinet minister Chris Cardona’s driver Marco Barbara, in late 2004, to a company incorporated in the British Virgin Islands, Maybole Development Ltd, which is registered to Wilson Barca’s office address.
