When younger men know more than older ones

Know more? I think it’s about being sharper, smarter and above all, having more moral fibre. Cognitive dissonance and pride – two factors that men of a certain age should have left behind them a long time go with life experience – are forcing Alexander Borg Olivier to cling to the defence of his damaged horse in the face of a rising tide of evidence that he should not, because he is far too proud to admit in public that he was wrong.

Meanwhile, in a reversal of how things should be, people less than half his age are setting him an example which he refuses to take, thereby embarrassing himself further: the son of one of Malta’s lauded prime ministers, rooting for a crook. It is truly shameful.
