Adrian Delia brought his wife out of the box today for the first time in this long, awful campaign – but only after this “biċċa blogger”, as he described me during yesterday evening’s hysteria, pointed out that she has been nowhere to be seen.

And in this he has been completely out of step, because the other contenders’ wives, who have been at their husbands’ side during campaign events, stayed home or stayed out of the picture.

He’s also the only one who turned up in a suit and tie – on a Saturday in early September, to cast a vote.

Mrs Delia should have stayed away too now that she has stayed away thus far. She looks utterly miserable and can’t even raise a smile for the picture. Having seen what that man is like, with his gas-lighting, his lies, his bullying, his boasting and his growling, not many people are surprised.

I hope that she has had the good sense to withdraw her power of attorney and, with the help of supportive family, erect a firewall around her personal interests as far as that is possible at this late stage.

We are dealing with a very unpleasant and shady character here.
