Consuelo, you need to find a psychiatrist for your boyfriend
Yes, you should. There are clear signs of mental illness here. He is in his mid-40s, behaving like a 12-year-old, and fixating on a journalist (and other woman) in a manner that is not at all healthy or normal. He needs help.
People never or rarely take themselves to a psychiatrist. They have to be talked into going, or strong-armed into it. Do it, or you’ll be making an even bigger rod for your back than you made already when you took up with such a weirdo.
Delia se jixkanani barra minn fejn, Musumeci? From my home? My car? My garden? The problem here is that Delia thought I would support him and was gagging for my backing. And then when I wrote a column for The Malta Independent saying that if he becomes Nationalist Party leader I would begin ripping into the Nationalist Party as I do with Labour (because then they would be the same type), he was taken aback, humiliated publicly, and reacted to my rejection by telling everybody that he was rejecting me instead – like those teenage boys at Sliema Pitch back in the 1970s who went wild if a girl snubbed them and bad-mouthed her all over town.
The trouble with Malta is that it is mainly run by men who need a psychiatrist. And I do not say that lightly.
