UPDATED/Instead of standing up for what is right, they are going to begin standing up for their personal seat

The Nationalist Party’s very own ethics committee thought Adrian Delia unfit to even stand for election, let alone be party leader.

But now because he has won, as expected, the various officials and elected representatives of that same party are going to begin sucking up like there’s no tomorrow, pretending that it’s for party unity when really it’s to protect their own narrow interests.

Party unity? For God’s sake, have some spine. You don’t back a sleaze. You have three choices here: align yourself to the sleaze and ditch your self-respect and the respect others had for you, resign because you will not work for a sleaze or cooperate with him, or keep your seat and fight him.

And when I say fight him, I mean fight him to save the Nationalist Party and what’s left of democracy in this distorted society of ours.

Nationalist MPs and MEPs have some very tough decisions to take as of tomorrow. Given that Delia’s election was all but a certainty, they should have given hard thought to their options already. We’ll be watching.

What was that they told Konrad Mizzi, Keith Schembri and Joseph Muscat last June? Ah, yes. An election is not a trial that pronounces you not guilty and clears your name. But they’re quite happy to behave as though this election has now cleared Delia’s name, aren’t they?

Carry on this way, you fools – you’re bleeding thousands more votes already.
