The first divorce

So it turns out that the first divorce under Maltese law was not Mad Jaff’s and Marlene’s, after all. So much for all his posturing and telling us how much he can’t wait to divorce her.
It was Joe and Giannella Caruana Curran’s. She beat him to it.
Perhaps Jaff is still wrestling with Marlene’s Catholic sentiments and desire to emulate the Madonna.
Oh, this country.

Why did you feel the need to say who were the first persons to be granted divorce?
[Daphne – I feel the NEED to say nothing. It is merely interesting information. If they were private persons, it wouldn’t be, and so I wouldn’t have bothered.]
Yes, very interesting information.
Why, Richard, what is wrong with knowing who got the first divorce in Malta?
Absolutely nothing.
I find your village gossiping quite comical
Comical are such comments by a person who has probably been affected by the kind of people normally defended in court by the lawyer in question.
Why village gossiping, Derek? In other countries, when important persons get divorced, it is splashed in the media.
Well, a big thank you for letting us know who these prominent people are. I don’t normally give a hoot about who gets divorced or not but this time I was curious, thanks to The Times which let us know it happened without telling us who the public figures in question are.
They exercised their legal right and it is nothing to be ashamed of. It was pointless releasing the news without the names.
So now I gather she’s Giannella DeMarco and not Giannella Caruana Curran any more?
One more divorce to go and she’ll be Giannella Hyzler. But maybe that other divorce is a bit more difficult.
Carmen, are you the legal representative for any one of the parties? If the answer is no then your comment is stupid.
The lawyers for the two parties – Joe’s lawyer Josette Grech and Giannella’s lawyer, her sister Fiorella – both work for De Marco & Associates.

Is this news? I am sure that these two lovely persons divorced by consensus…… not like Jeffrey I am the bully man.

While you’re waiting and praying for that result, Finney, put your time to good use and take some spelling lessons.
Jekk temmen f’Alla, Finney, ma tantx ghandek sentimenti nisranin wisq.
Shame on you Finney wishing such a terrible thing. If you don’t like Daphne’s blog, then just don’t read it. No one is obliging you to do so.
This is importat as they are both VIPs
Not quite. He may be in the public eye for one reason; she, being a lawyer is not a VIP. Self-important maybe, but a VIP?
What, they did not have the money to get one overseas?
[Daphne – It has nothing to do with money, but with being resident or having citizenship.]
Even in Las Vegas?
[Daphne – ‘Quickie’ divorces are not recognised under Maltese law.]
Nothing to be ashamed of it was nice seeing that divorce is being implicated here in Malta.
[Daphne – Implicated?]
implemented.
U ejja Daphne. Kemm int pedantika.
It is their right to divorce and they have nothing to be ashamed of.
I hope they voted and spoke in favour of divorce prior to the referendum otherwise that would be hypercritical.
I wish them best of luck.

He whose name sounds like a cocktail mixer or a soft drink – you’ve already been warned – please work on your spelling.
