Angela Merkel gets her flags right
My, my, my – the redneck Labour elves are terribly upset because I pointed out to them that Joseph and Kurt keep getting their flags wrong, and that the EU flag should be on the right of the national flag, not the other way round.
I forgot that, with redneck Labour elves who came out of the gutter into a world of arcane systems they don’t understand, you have to be very, very specific and explain everything from A to Z and beyond because they’re now operating in a context that is completely alien to them.
I didn’t bother to tell them what you do with your flags when you have a guest nation, but I didn’t think I had to because Joseph Muscat is not a prime minister or head of state and won’t be hosting any guest nations until 2013.
He shouldn’t even be using the Maltese and EU flags at his press conferences.
So what did the redneck elves do? They dug up a photograph of an EU conference and used it as evidence that Joseph Muscat got his flags the right way round – because Sarkozy, Monti and Merkel were shown on a stage with, behind them, the EU flag on the left of their national flag.
YOU HOWLING IDIOTS.
That’s because the French, Italian and German flags had ‘guest nation’ status – so their flags go on the right of the EU flag.
I’ll be even more specific, lest there is further confusion.
Q. What do you do with your flags if the Maltese prime minister is giving a press conference in Malta?
A. Both flags are placed behind his right shoulder, with the EU flag to the right of the Maltese flag.
Q. What do you do with your flags if the Maltese prime minister is giving a press conference at the Auberge de Castille with Hillary Clinton?
A. As above, but add the American flag to the right of the EU flag.
I can NOT stand the way they think these etched-in-stone rules are a matter of opinion or that you can speculate about them and hazard guesses. Why not just look them up instead, twits? That would be the ghaqal way to do it.

Don’t know why everyone is getting their knickers in a twist about this flag business. Very soon the EU flag will be flying at half mast. There is a growing call here in the UK to have a referendum to get us out. Only problem is, Cameron hasn’t got the balls to let the Great British Public make its own decision in a referendum, like when we were allowed a referendum to join back in the seventies. Then it was called the Common Market. It has now evolved to the extent where EU law supersedes British law in many things. We weren’t told that back then. Lambs to the slaughter.
