Prosit Joseph il-King
One of the reasons I love watching Super One shows so much is the text messages scrolling along the bottom of the screen.
They are utterly fascinating.
Here below are just a few which I took down at the end of the long, long fundraiser yesterday.
Other highlights of the show were the appearance of Mrs Muscat living out her childhood air hostess dream (see photograph) while her husband and one of his bookends (where was the other one – sulking with Jason?) kept their coats on in the studio.
I suppose we should be grateful that Marisa Micallef hasn’t yet advised them on headgear, or they’d have kept their black hats on, too.
What struck me most of all when I tuned in very late is how distracted and disconcerted they all looked – so much so, that they shut down the show about an hour before time.
It was supposed to go on until midnight but was brought abruptly to a halt just after 11pm.
Was Jason Micallef lying down and screaming in the wings?
Was he threatening to burst on screen and make a scene in some tight white trousers and with friendy-wendy Ronnie in tow, in a matching outfit?
Or wasn’t enough money coming in?
That’s what you get for spending three years telling people that they’re starving and haven’t got enough cash to pay their utilities bills.
They believe you, and then they don’t give you any money either.
Anyway, here are some of those enthralling text messages:

The other bookend was there. Joseph Muscat made a point of thanking him for dealing with local councils “ghax it’s a thankless job” and the camera zoomed in on him simpering at the syrupy praise and thunderous applause.
iPad? What app were you using to stream One TV?
I’ve been dreaming of being able to watch my favourite comedy channel on my iPad.
[Daphne – I don’t use an iPad. Read it again.]
Keeping with the recent theme, I suppose this would be pronounced “il-KINK”.
It must come as great relief for Joseph being assured of the nassaba & kaccaturi votes.
They figured that it was useless trying to compete with the NP’s fund raising campaign being more than e100,000 behind.
Was yesterday’s performances a harbinger of the coming election?
While the larger noise attracts more attention, never underestimate the resilience of the Nationalist Party. And remember ’empty vessels make more sound’ and we all know about the emptiness of vision at the Mile End which proves the point.
They brought in Franco Mercieca to check their vision.
So “bird-brains” vote Labour.
We’ve long known that.
So in 2013 Malta will be changing its status from republican to monarchical. About time we had a change too.
By the time he was sixteen, little Joey was sure of two things,
He would marry his high school geometry teacher and would save western civilization.
Little Joey went on to marry a younger wife (while endulging ‘intimate’ female email friends), but was still obsessed with rescuing the planet that is Malta.
Unfortunately, the cherub with a chip on his shoulder, far out of his depth, has reduced his promised ‘Future Shock’ to a ‘Present Schlok’.
Ok… I figured it out. OPlayer HD does the trick.
Finally! One News in bed.
One News? Be warned. May cause severe depression.
Good to see that tal-hamiem and tal-gamiem have finally buried the hatchet and are now both united in their support for Joseph il-king.
Joseph il-Burger King while Michelle got her wings.
Qisu ta’ The Matrix Reloaded.
What in heaven’s name is she wearing? Is she trying to imitate Madame Sarkozy or what?
Yeah right, if anything, Mrs.Tony Blair.
No comparison either, Jozef. Mrs Blair has at least some class.
I was at a conference overseas recently and the ladies on one particular exhibitor’s stand (you know the ones, those who are used to try and attract people to the stands in order to promote their services) were dressed exactly like her, hat and all.
