Help raise funds for the Joseph-for-leader campaign
The Friends of Joseph Muscat are holding a fundraising drive for his campaign to become leader of the Labour Party. The funds will go towards the many Brussels/Malta/Brussels flights he must make between now and 5 June to lobby the hundreds of delegates in whose hands his fate as future prime minister of Malta now lies.
In the spirit of political balance and altruism, and because we have been instructed to do so by the Broadcasting Authority, we are publishing details of the publicity items that are being sold by the Friends of Joseph Muscat. Choose from T-shirts, handbags, shoulder-bags, a lovely plaque, jeans applique and mobile phone accessories, all bearing the distinctive Joseph Muscat motif.
Cheques should be made out to Friends of Joseph Muscat, c/o Michelle Muscat (former personal assistant to Alfred Sant), PO Box 2008, Mosta.

Meanwhile, the anti-Joseph Muscat lobby has produced a lapel button which it is selling for the favourable price of EUR2. These are being sold through former police inspector Anglu Farrugia’s legal office (look up the address).

A pregnant woman, while in the hospital, fell into a coma. When she awoke days later, the woman noticed that she was no longer carrying a child, and asked, “Doc, what happened to my baby!”
The doctor replied, “Ma’am, you’ve had twins! You’re the proud mother of a handsome baby boy and a beautiful baby girl. Also, you should know that while you were in a coma, your ex-leader named the children for you.”
“Oh, no!” shrieked the woman. “Not my ex-leader! He’s not really all together, if you know what I mean!”
The doctor replied, “Well, ma’am, your ex-ledaer named your daughter Denise.”
“Oh, that’s no so bad,” smiled the woman. Then, hesitantly, she asked, “What’s the boy’s name?”
The doctor grinned and said, “Denephew
Malcolm,
was the doctor’s name Victor by any chance?
Malcolm,
I just can’t stop laughing at that joke!!!!!!!!!!
I just heard that Malta has joined the Partnership for Peace.
Alfred Sant was right then: “Il-Partnership rebah”.
I googled Michelle Muscat and got pasta.
Are you crazy Antoine?
Malta would never join in any partnership, not for Peace not for anything else. We are ALREADY FULL MEMBERS OF THE EU.
You really can’t swallow this can you?
This is another hysterical gimmick of the MLP to divert us from what is happening at Mile End!!
[Moderator – The Partnership for Peace is different because some of its members are powerful states outside the EU.]
@Mod
Are you truly suggesting, help me God, that Partnership is more powerfull because its members are outside the EU????????
Are you still drunk or with a hangover after the election, mate? What are you suggesting???
That we should join Partnership now that they got rid of AS???
Was he right about this after all then??
[Moderator – There are two different ‘Partnerships’. Partnership was a hypothetical quasi-membership of the EU proposed by Alfred Sant. The Partnership for Peace is a NATO project supported by members of the EU and non-members of the EU. I think that membership is important because it gives us the chance to improve relations with some of the newest democracies in Europe – especially since some, like Albania, will probably become members of the EU quite soon.]
U mela. Let our boys do some real soldiering for once, they are raring to go for it. And believe me, the maltese army is good. it needs experience and training to make it better. Is this true about Jowey and his fund raising
@Indannata I think you should calm down and start writing when you’re Kalma.
Telling the mod that he’s drunk, when you’re drunk with rage is amusing to put it mildly.
Good news about the PfP. I remember feeling so embarrassed when reading what the foreign press had to say when AS back in 96 rushed to get Malta out of PfP. Actually, I wonder why it took us so long to re-apply.
How could I not be furious when Mod is telling us that Partnership is good for Malta. This should stop. Say something Daphne for goodness sake!!!
[Moderator – I was referring to NATO’s Partnership for Peace, not Alfred Sant’s Partnership.]
@ Indannata – nobody here is talking about Sant’s partnership with the EU (the one that won the referendum…).
The discussion here is about Malta joining the EU’s Partnership for Peace programme which involves the armies of different member states and other countries. Malta had joined pre-1996, but when Sant was elected in 1996, the first thing he did was dispatch George Vella to Brussels to get Malta out of it.
If I remember correctly, pulling Malta out of Partnership for Peace was one of his main electoral messages in the 1996 campaign. He would go round his coffee mornings telling the housewives that their boys would be sent off to fight other people’s wars and come home in black body-bags.
@ Indannata – sorry, actually it’s a NATO programme not an EU programme. Here’s the link which tells you all you need to know about Partnership for Peace http://www.nato.int/issues/pfp/index.html
I have an inkling that Indannata is a little bit ‘underpressed’ if you know what I mean.
Daphne, after you have had your fill parading all kinds of Poodles move on to the series Carry On Anglu…
I have a few titles…feel free to add to them
Carry On Disgrumpled (from Bondiplus interview)
Carry On Bozza ta’ l-Elf
Carry On Clouseau
Lino you should look carefully at the mirror.
And thanks Daphne, people are not all Havard lads if you know what I mean!! :P
Indannata,
Thanks for you advice. I did have a look, and could not find anything wrong with me; but then that is, very subjectively speaking.
With regards to Harvard, I would not be too enthusiastic: after all it did produce at least one political bankrupt.
Meerkat: that should be ‘bozza tal-elve’
@ Corinne Vella
:-) :-) Ha haaa
I have another one
Carry On Regardless of your shady past.
(not intended to be funny but to highlight the fact that few connect Anglu Bellu to Pullicin’s reign of terror)
@lino
forgot to put on your glasses??
Meerkat: Be careful – Anglu Farrugia sued Daphne for libel for reminding us all about that water-under-bridge-it’s-all-history chapter of his CV. Apparently, it’s her article that scuppered his chances of taking over the MLP, not the actions she mentioned.
Indannata
No I did not. And they happen to be veryfocal.
Partnership (for Peace) l-ahjar ghazla!
@ Daphne yes it was a big thing in 1996. As usual he muddled things up confusing Search and Rescue operations, on a voluntary basis (voluntary for the country and voluntary for the individual soldiers) with Peace Keeping missions. He told all and sundry that we’re becoming a military base (like he did pre-EU). They withdrew Malta’s membership within 48 hours of being sworn in – il-bravi! The international press was disgusted at the time. Nobody could fathom why we didn’t want to partake in civilian search and rescue operations.
At least it was one (possibly the solitary) electoral promise he kept.
@lino
then go to sleep – Bed time!
you must be tired!
Ivan: No. It wasn’t the only promise he kept. There were two more. (As we say in Maltese ‘fuq tlieta toqghod il-borma’.) He also famously removed VAT and froze Malta’s EU application. Remember the Euronews report of Sant’s election? “Malta has voted itself out of Europe”.
(just noticed there’s another Ivan so I’m changing to Ivan M)
@Corinne…you’re partly right about the EU. He had promised to withdraw it, but then froze it.
And the VAT…tehehe. What he did was swap the C with a V and the A with an E. And 15% with 28%.
Anybody can come up with something he actually promised and fulfilled? :)
Yes Ivan M, I can
Bidu Gdid…for himself. Mhux xorta bidu gdid..
He is no longer Leader of the Opposition …He didnt read the fine print of the Bidu Gdid thingy forsi kellhom misprint…it never said not as PM.
Indannata.
What? Go to sleep? Tired? Just because I did not forget to put on my veryfocal glasses?
I admit I was getting a little bit dizzy with your ‘piece’ against Partnership vs Partnership for Peace, but then Daphne saved the day.
I suggest a partnership for peace between lino and indannata. :-)
Meerkat,
I love that one! you’re simply irresistible.
No partnership for me.
Just joking on my part;P
No hard feelings lino.
If you are not tired, I am.
G’night
Indannata
Definitely not. In fact I’m growing to love this blog even more for the sheer sense of humour it provides sometimes.
Good night
@ Corinne
Oh so Anglu Bellu is for Revisionist History now isn’t he?
@ lino
Txs for the irresistible…:-) *blush*
Mela ahjar nohrog ghal-lider ta’ l-MLP
I’ll be the cat among the pigins… ;-)
Meerkat: No. Today he is one of the main Political exponents of the Labour Party where in his ferocious and strong speeches that he delivers in the Maltese Parliament and in the Public (sic). His words, not mine. That’s his ‘political vision’, according to his website.
Meerkat
Have they changed feathers? I bet it’s that DNA expert.
@ Corinne
Ferocious as an Iljun tal-Bidla
@ Lino
No they still all have feathers…they’re all followers of sundry chickens and peacocks..; and one of the characteristics of poodles is they love to dress up in extravagant attire…I don’t know why I am picturing a poodle in a headdress of a new crowned lider…the head dress is made of chicken and peacock feathers.
Since I am a cat it will be a Fur and Feather show…
One thing is for sure…the feathers will fly and not the fur!
Meerkat
Be humble my friend.
a “mere cat” against all those chickens… you’ll be outnumbered. But then, it’s a brain fight isn’t it. come on be fair.. it’s no match.
Breaking news…..
“Joe Said said he’s very sad about what’s being said. In fact if what’s being said about Said was not said, it wouldn’t have made Said that sad, but happy instead” said the report of “THE SAD TRUTH” magazine about the sad Said controversy.
If you can limerick that one, you will be eligible for the lijderxipp elekkxins. I could’nt lap my ice-cream after trying it, and after typing it in, my fingers looked like a spaghetti junction.
Care how you read that. If you read Said for said you’ll be saiding and thus render yourself biased and unfit for the elekkxinns. In case of any difficulty you may ask for Pierre Portelli’s advice.
