Alex Saliba of Forum Zghazagh Laburisti: “I dream about and long for a Labour government, because I have never experienced one.”
This is Alex ‘Tander’ Saliba, speaking at the Labour Party general conference this week. He’s secretary-general of Forum Zghazagh Laburisti but more famous for his bedroom, which was recently featured on this website.
He is one of Ronnie Pellegrini’s ‘favourites’, Ronnie being Lorry Sant’s long-time henchman and fixer and now a Super One boy-chaser who hangs around with lads in their late teens and 20s.
Alex says in this speech that it is his great misfortune to have known nothing but a Nationalist government. I’d swap with you any day, Tander, if miracles could happen and I could have my life all over again. When I was your age, 23, I had known nothing but a Labour government.
And I still carry the scars.
And here he is again. If I had walked into a party and found this crowd of ugly nerds and what we used to call ‘freaks’ when I was 20, I’d have run out laughing.
Not to be mean or anything, but honestly. These pictures might as well have been taken at the height of the frumpy Maltese 1980s. You’d think they’re all buying their outfits at L-Amerikan and having a wild time at Tal-Muzew on the weekend.

Daphne, no more scary videos please. Do not ruin my Sunday mood.
Too true – I’m still traumatised by that Effie character’s profile you posted. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Is he really serious? Shall I explain to him what things were like under a Labour government? Is he aspiring to go to work in Brussels thanks to his Labour ‘No to Europe’ party, by any chance?
Charles Mangion and Jason Micallef no doubt recalling with fondness their younger and er..wilder..days
The guy who keeps a pin-up photo of Joseph Muscat in his bedroom should consider himself lucky he never experienced a Labour government.
What was the substance of his speech, anyway? Just the usual Labour propaganda.
If one makes an observation that, to date, they haven’t come up with a valid proposal, is it an ‘attakk personal’?
The ball is in their court.
Maybe Ronnie is renewing some tradition dating back to the days when Dom Mintoff enjoyed being photographed with personable (half-naked ) young men, during his leisure time.
Tander can speak for himself.
I’m definitely not one of the ‘zaghzagh’ ready for the ‘Mexxej’, as he put it.
Two years of Labour were more than enough for me. I still haven’t forgotten that back then they burned EU flags instead of using them as fancy decorations.
What does he mean, he’s never experienced a Labour government? Was he born after 1998?
So Saliba tal-Elves wants the full Labour experience, does he? Maybe Saliba he should be deprived of the opportunity to graduate (it’s too late to stop him entering university), have his passport confiscated, blamed for crimes he didn’t commit, get arrested and held in a dank dark cell and then hauled up to court on trumped-up charges.
Meanwhile, his property – such as it is – should be forcibly removed from his possession. He is, after all, middle class and therefore an enemy of the people.
I still carry the scars too and, I have to say, I do not want them to heal.
I do not want to forget what happened. Only because I remember what really happened I really treasure what we- as a nation – have today.
Oh my God…and what kind of music is that anyway? How depressing. Well, maybe it goes with the whole ‘crying’ theme of late.
“Wild time at tal-Muzew” – hahahaha
Have a look at the stage and try and spot anything associated with the PL. A flag perhaps? Godfrey’s logo?
Zilch. Could have been a conference organised by a pharmaceutical company for all we know.
They must be reasoning that this is a conference of the Moviment, not of the Partit Laburista.
Strange.
I concur with Daphne. In my day we would have run a mile from a party of gormless youth like this.
The wine was the cheapest accompanied by ersatz “dipps” and faux nouvelle cuisine so loved by these members of the Great Unwashed.
There was Tander, no doubt expounding about how to design bedrooms, Sabrina tal-emails and various scrofalous youths……but one astoundingly beautiful girl. I wonder what she is doing amongst that lot.
Issa tal-Labour ghandhom il-Grace tal-Nail Art. Ahjar joqod attent, Joseph, ghax tiggriflu wiccu fil-parliamentary group meeting.
