What is this vid? Is it dubbed?

[Daphne – No, it’s not dubbed. This is a real North Korean song-and-dance troupe, performing Ma Taghmlu Xejn Mal-Perit Mintoff in Maltese, as a special show put on when Prime Minister Mintoff visited North Korea.]

Ma setghax iwaqqa’ lil Malta ghan-nejk aktar milli waqqaghha.

Meta nara wicc AST niftakar f’kumment li darba kienu gabu f’ xi gazzetta fi zmien KMB, fejn ikkwotaw lil Marina Ripa Di Meana habiba ta’ Bettino Craxi tirreferi ghal AST bhala ”QUEL TONNO!” ghax kien ghadu jahseb li hu xi ladies man.

Xi hadd jiftakar fliema gazzetta kienu ikkwotawha’? Kien fi zmien meta KMB kien spicca qiesu il-bidillu ta’ Craxi, gej u sejjer ghandu, anke meta hadd ma jibghat ghalih.

    Is this for real?

And this was the honour foisted on a visiting head of state?

My God – and we thought his friend Ceaucescu was a big head!

No wonder the rocket went kaboom over their heads – they should have tried a Desserta factory to impress the free world with their engineering prowess – ftit cikkulata, naqa minn dan, naqa minn dik – voila cikkulata ghall aristokrazija tal-haddiema.

Does anyone have a clip of the awful Xandir Malta deserta slot – just to refresh my memory and let my kids laugh at us for being so … cwiec.

MLP MP Gorg Gatt (Jason Michallef’s uncle) hosted Kim Jong Il in his Mosta Villa, and while Kim was studying English at the University of Malta, his mentor was Daniel Massa.

“But in the 1970s, Mr Kim was in Malta to learn English, possibly as part of an exchange that included a secret agreement between the Labour government and the North Korean regime for the provision of military training and weapons.”

“Warrbu minn nofs ghamlulna l-wisgha, meta taraw lilna gejjin…..Ma taghmlu xejn mal-Perit Mintoff” was probably a ‘song’ which the young student liked.
