The ‘housing consultant’ tests his willpower

Published: April 25, 2012 at 10:59pm

Labour MP Stefan Buontempo, who sells himself to electors as a ‘housing consultant’ (kif tiehu post tal-gvern), is so thrilled at the prospect of Franco Debono bringing down the government, that he has begun testing his begins-with-a-W resistance, and has let everyone know on Facebook. Some politicians shouldn’t be allowed by their minders to have a Facebook page.

The incident this morning says it all. First he crosses to Joseph, then Joseph stops for a little chat, then he panics when the PM doesn’t give in to his bluff.

Because that’s what it is, bluff.

If these two junior polticians think the PM is going to fall for their little tricks, they’re so mistaken.

It is up to THEM to bring down government, Franco doesn’t want to be seen doing it, nor does Joseph want to be blamed for it.

It is up to them to disrupt the good work and the country’s business a few months before an election to show us how conceited they are.

A chickens and an idiot is what they have proved to be.

But Joseph Brincat is telling us that if we trust him we won’t “regretted”.

    • Joe Micallef says:

Not only but, at least, he is totally ignorant about the workings of the online world.

      • Sowerberry says:

I have been on the internet since 1996 and rule one is never upload personal info on the social networks like Facebook, Twitter, etc.

People upload whole family/holiday albums, and links which will come back to haunt them in the future. Is this guy such an idiot to upload this link? If he is married his wife will skin him alive.

      • X. says:

Let’s hope his wife is, too.

      • C Falzon says:

Only about the workings of the online world?

      • X. says:

He is married and has children too. It must be pretty embarassing for them all.

      • FP says:

That’s not ignorance, but utter stupidity.

What exactly did he post that link for, if not to share it? For his personal enjoyment, perhaps?

  4. H.P. Baxxter says:

I shall have to wheel out an old classic now:

Joseph Muscat is a cunning linguist, but Stefan Buontempo is a…master debater.

    Let him figure that out.

What certain people find funny or provides amusement says a lot about that person.

Those with a low amusement threshold aren’t usually all that smart.

  8. FP says:

I don’t think one needs to refer to his FB wall to figure out how smart this guy really is.

  9. FP says:

A man of many talents, no doubt. Now he can add “debating” to his Activities and Interests page.

  10. GD says:

Are’nt hospital consultants supposed to be at their place of work until at least one pm?

Then how come Franco Mercieca was heard LIVE on a political Radio at 11 am this morning discussing “lazy eye”?

  11. Paul Bonnici says:

He has been at it (masturbating) for so long that he forgot how to spell it.

    • FP says:

Sorry to spoil it for you, but that’s probably the original title from the link to the video hosted on metacafe.

  12. Paul Bonnici says:

Tal-biza! These will be our leaders next year, thanks to the PN incompetence and global economical circumstances.

The PN let the electorate down badly. Malta will be punished with a Labour victory.

We will have Anglu, Silvio and Stephan Buontempo as ministers.

  13. DICKENS says:

I watched Gorg Vella yesterday on Super One TV and his stand on the PFP/RCC issue is always according to the Wikileaks Gospels. He is at it again on Labour Party radio as I write this.

Who was foreign Affairs minister at the time when Dom Mintoff, behind parliament’s back, was planning to annex Malta officially to the Libyan Jemaharijah?

Can one demand a statement on the matter from the Labour Party?

  14. Spiru says:

GD – le he was late catching the ferry so took the day off and went to the radio instead……

  15. toyger says:

He’s not the only one. I know of quite a number of consultants who are out by 11am on their out-patients days, when they’re supposed to stay till 1pm. What they do on their off days is their business, but if you’re supposed to be at work on that day till the afternoon, that’s another story.

    • Snoopy says:

Just to put the record straight – at Mater Dei morning sessions are from 8.00 till 12:00; afternoon sessions 12:00 till 4:00pm.

It’s hobnobbing with high society this evening. Dinner at Siggiewi where the guests include Carmen Camilleri Ciantar, Sandro Chetcuti and bro Jose. I’ll be sporting my Patek Phillipe of course. Or will it be my rose-pink Chopard. We shall see.

  20. Vanni says:

  21. David S says:

So the latest person to criticise the government is none other than the governor of the Central Bank , Prof(s) Josef Bonnici. It’s rich coming from him, given that when he was Minister for the Economy (government investments) in the Fenech Adami legislature of 1998-2003, all government entities were bleeding in red ink.

I know as I was on one of the state corporation boards, and whenever we required his “political” approval for corrective measures, he NEVER took any decision.

Indeed, in five years he never met with our board – he was an absolutely useless minister.

The PN won the 2003 election because of the EU membership decision – otherwise the economy was in dire straits and much of the problem was Bonnici’s sheer incompetence. He is a true academic who is useless in the real world.

Post 2003, Minister Gatt was charged with rectifying the mess Bonnici left behind.

When Bonnici was appointed governor of the Central Bank I was very vocal against the decision.

If Dr Gonzi erred as PM, it was with the appointment of certain people to important positions when they were and are completely out of their depth. Another notable case is the secretary-general of the Nationalist Party, who has seen the party disintegrate under his watch.

[Daphne – The secretary-general is elected, not appointed. I’m all for appointing somebody to this position.]

  22. AJS says:

The offending article has been removed from his wall.

I wonder whether the girl in the video is Mary Mifsud? It would explain why she stopped answering anti-Franco Debono sentiment on timesofmalta.com. I daresay keeping in shape, rather than debating the master, is a more fruitful activity.

  28. Grezz says:

  29. MS says:

Before anyone takes the impression that one of our MPs is a sicko, he just fell victim of some malware that is currently doing the rounds on the net. I’ve seen a lot of similar posts in the last few days.

Having said that, he should definitely be more careful in the future. Such incidents are embarrassing for anyone, let alone a public figure.
