A transplant would solve all the problems.

    • ciccio says:

Do you mean a transplant of the entire head?

    • TROY says:

      A brain one will.

    • Angus Black says:

A hairpiece will be much cheaper and painless.

He should perhaps consult with his predecessor regarding the acquisition and maintaining of rugs.

    • Harry Purdie says:

I suggest Alfred lends him a couple of his luxurious pelts. They could even share the glue, or does he use tacks.

A transplant won’t work. Transplants need fertile ground.

    • maryanne says:

Very good and strong arguments. I would add that general elections are there for people to vote those whom they think might not have done a good job during the preceding legislature.

Certainly it is not ethical for a colleague to militate so harshly against one of his own.

    • Neil Dent says:

Rather a good piece. Well balanced and realistic.

I wonder what Luciano was saying to the Minister in the picture. Another caption competition, Daphne?

  2. Jozef says:

According to Joseph, delivering his Sunday speech, Air Malta employees shouldn’t be made redundant when others are being employed.

So, if there’s an excessive number of luggage handlers whereas, say technical staff, needs to be increased, all the company has to do, is to transfer the former.

    Ghidlu l-ministru.

  3. David S says:

Read page 35 today’s The Times , where Richard Matrenza calls himself “Ambassador Emeritus” .

  4. Paul Bonnici says:

I have just noticed a trend, the backgournd walls seem to be all blue now.

Even in Zabbar the background was blue. I wonder if walls are painted blue deliberately before Dr Muscat visits the local party club.

  7. NotSuperOne says:

    The poverty and hardship sob stories doled out on a daily basis by Joseph’s propaganda machine to discredit the present government’s track record, does not deter people from risking their lives to arrive in Malta in search for a better life for themselves and their dear ones;

    http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20120529/local/Ex-superintendent-s-human-rights-breached-by-the-police.421765

Curious to know who are his defence lawers as the news item does mot mention them ?

By any chance was he ever posted at St, Julians Police Station ?

  9. Manuel Camilleri says:

Will Ginger’s advisers please tell him to be coherent and that he should not present himself as a new-born socialist and honking about his Progessive and Liberal party that seems to have belonged to the Jurassic era?

  10. The Shadow says:

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again he is a clone of Mussolini. Look how he juts his flipping chin out.

  11. Grezz says:

It’s not fair to let Joseph steal Franco Debono’s limelight, so … “Lawyer Franco Debono found reason to criticise the state of the law courts today when a chair he was resting against collapsed.” – Read about it here if you don’t believe me: http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20120529/local/franco-debono-finds-reason-to-criticise-state-of-the-courts-as-chair-collapses.421886

But, before you conclude that he was sitting down, read this:

“Dr Debono was standing up addressing the court when he rested a foot on the seat of a chair. The seat collapsed and Dr Debono ended up on one knee, hurting himself slightly.”

Is that what they do in Hal Ghaxaq – place their feet on the seats of chairs?

    • Grezz says:

And this is the case he was defending: http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20120529/local/fraud.421876

I suppose we could say that Franco Debono was brought to his knees, albeit unvoluntarily.

    • Grezz says:

      “Francis Saliba M.D.

If I understand correctly Dr Franco Debono damaged government property through improper use of a chair on which he was meant to rest his bottom, not to strike a dramatic pose with his foot on the chair. He should consider himself lucky not to be sued for damage by you know who and to escape a motion of censure escalating to a demand for a resignation!”

      Well said, Dr. Saliba.

    • Grezz says:

Franco Debono must have pedantically contacted The Times, because their online version on the above link has changed, with the word “foot” being replaced by “knee”. Yawn.

  12. johnusa says:

It’s the light. Was that so hard to figure out? In the first picture he has horrible flourescent lighting whereas in the other one he is under a softer darker light. No brain surgery there.

[Daphne – No, John, it’s not the light. Lighting does not create the illusion of hair where none exists.]

  13. Francis Saliba MD says:

Who cares about his hair? What is absolutely scary is that he is getting to look more and more like someone from the past ranting on the balcony of Palazzo Venezia a long. long time ago.

    • etil says:

True Dr. Saliba – the likeness is uncanny. I know we all have a double somewhere in the world and it seems he is the split image of Benito M.

      • ciccio says:

The likeness of some of his party’s policies and behaviour, present and past, with that preached from Palazzo Venezia, is even scarier.

  14. xmun says:

The Labour Party said today that it is against the Common Consolidated Corporate Tax Base (CCCTB) proposed by the European Commission.
The party said this would harm Malta’s interests and could lead to harmomised tax rates, which the party also opposes.

So why did the 3 Labour MEPs abstain instead of voting against the proposal in the European Parliament?

    • A. Charles says:

Pity in this age of mobile phone cameras that we do not see the actual event happening. However, I bet Franco Debono will sue the PM & cabinet for putting his life in jeopardy.

  15. silvio says:

Why are you surprised. This also happens with the painting of the Mona Lisa. It depends from which position you look at it.

Could be it has something to do with masterpieces.

Funnily enough, even my hamster does it.

Maybe some great mind should carry out a study on it.

  16. kev says:

Have you heard of his hero, President Choomwagon? What a hypocrite! And wasn’t Milton Friedman right! Here’s Choomwagon for losers and winners alike: http://www.zerohedge.com/news/guest-post-president-choomwagon

    • La Redoute says:

Bore on, Kev. Haven’t they pushed your lot off the gravy train yet?

      • kev says:

That’s a very insightful comment, La Redoute. So you think the Barry’s choomwagon was in fact a groovey train?

Here’s what Milton Friedman wrote as quoted in the article:

“If you look at the drug war from a purely economic point of view, the role of the government is to protect the drug cartel. That’s literally true.

“There is no logical basis for the prohibition of marijuana. Our failure to successfully enforce these laws is responsible for the deaths of thousands of people in Colombia. I haven’t even included the harm to young people. It’s absolutely disgraceful to think of picking up a 22-year-old for smoking pot. More disgraceful is the denial of marijuana for medical purposes.”

But then, who is Milton Friedman to know what La Redoute doesn’t?

      • La Redoute says:

You’re one big yawn, Kev. You’d have been a whole lot more interesting if you learned this sort of thing at the right age.

  17. Sowerberry says:

Since when do ex-ambassadors sign off as “Ambassador Emeritus”? This is what Richard A. Matrenza did in today’s The Times.

  18. Michelle Falzon says:

Be Prime Minister for a day.

That’s a competition the PN is running now.

They should take care. Franco Debono is bound to enter and demand the prize.

  19. Alfred Bugeja says:

Il-Frank just quoted one of your articles in The Malta Independent when you compared him to JM. You should be flattered.

  20. Not Tonight says:

What’s the ghost of Dr. George Bonello du Puis doing behind Joseph Muscat?

His pose in the second picture is cringe worthy. No wonder the audience behind him look so bored and miserable.

  21. Joseph (Not Muscat) says:

    In the times
    http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20120529/local/minister-should-shoulder-responsibility-debono.421892
    8th paragraph from last:

As for the drugs situation in prison, Josette Bickle (convicted for drug trafficking behind bars) was a sacrificial LAMP to a system which should have been remedied a long time ago.

  22. Lilla says:

On timesofmalta.com – Debono says he is suffering ‘much more’ than the minister’:

“As for the drugs situation in prison, Josette Bickle (convicted for drug trafficking behind bars) was a sacrificial lamp to a system which should have been remedied a long time ago.”

    Sacrifical lamp?

I know the electricity bills are high, but this is a first.

    • ciccio says:

I have one idea for the Be Prime Minister for a Day.

The PM should organise a National Suffering Contest. Let’s see if it is Franco Debono who is suffering most. This should clarify the situation once and for all.

If the PM adopts my idea, I am more than happy to give up the prize but I suggest that this shall be given to the one who wins the suffering contest.

  23. Luciano Pace Parascandalo says:

He should get some advice from Wayne Rooney.

  24. canon says:

Does Michelle have a say in this matter about the hair?

  25. blue says:

So that is why Mrs Muscat wore blue to the school concert yesterday. It must have been a plot to divert attention from her husband’s hair (or lack of it).
Only it didn’t work, as sitting pompously on the front row, he gave everyone there a good view of his bald patch.

  26. ciccio says:

“Censure motion – Debono says he is suffering ‘much more’ than the minister” – says the timesonline.

    http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20120529/local/minister-should-shoulder-responsibility-debono.421892

At this point, offering him the job of Prime Minister would be insulting to Dr. Debono. He has the qualifications to be a Saint, with Padre Pio.

    • etil says:

Don’t waste time discussing Muscat’s hair or lack of it. Instead, be worried about his various statements that smell of extreme socialisim/communism.

  27. Vanni says:

On another subject, if I may:

    http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20120529/local/minister-should-shoulder-responsibility-debono.421892

    According to the title:
‘Debono says he is suffering ‘much more’ than the minister’

Apart from the obvious question, ie who gives a rat’s ass about Franco and his suffering, I do wonder by what yardstick is Debono measuring suffering? Has he experienced childbirth? Broken limb? Torture? Or maybe he thinks that being deprived of his mobile suffices?

  28. Crockett says:

The solution is simple…he needs tiny water sprinklers permanently installed on his head, just like the Kappara roundabout.
