INEPTOCRACY

Published: July 4, 2012 at 2:34pm

INEPTOCRACY: A system of government where the least capable of leading are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

Somebody just emailed me this as a fitting description of life under Labour:

    Spot on.

    • Mandango says:

      Spot on and how!

Am unsure as to whether it could get any worse than we have it at the moment, thus I’m placing my bets on voting Labour this time. I find it hard to believe they can result as ineptocratic as the current incumbents.

[Daphne – You’re a committed Labour voter already, mandango. Who are you kidding.]

      • Anthony says:

Mandango, it is either one or the other.

One : You were not anywhere near Malta between 1971 and 1987.

The Other : You are a dyed-in-the-wool Labourite/Mintoffian. Since ever.

      • La Redoute says:

With that line of reasoning, there’s no need to spell out where your vote’s going to go.

  2. Kurt Mifsud Bonnici says:

To me all that says is that the electorate is the most inept of all. If, as you usually say, Malta will be under a Labour government next year then it would be no one’s fault but ours.

The sleaze and low moral tactics are there for all to see. Turn a blind eye at your own peril.

    • Neil Dent says:

I get what you mean, but it most certainly won’t be MY fault if the MLP are in power after the next elections.

Excellent description of a Labour government.

  4. Francis Saliba MD says:

    Succinct and most apt.

  5. The Phoenix says:

Unfortunately, the rot in Malta is there to stay. Our society has regressed so much.

The symptoms of a degraded society are all there, the low moral threshold, the sprouting tatoos, the lack of efforts to educate properly, the loudness and the self serving attitude of many, the pure hamallagni that is taking over the island. Sadly, the MLP s message will resonate with these people. And the PN will lose the elections.

Another of the PN’s faults is glariungly obvious. The party is being directed by a shadowy strategy team that is not elected by any party organ. This is agaiunst the statute. The people are tired of this shadowy direction. Anyone who works in the party should be elected and go through the ranks, not show himself as little as possible so that its easy to eff off at the first sign of trouble.

And what is this about Tonio and Mario Demarco moaning about bleeding and division. This shows how out of touch they are with the rank and file. How defeatist and how idiotic. Stennejt iktar stoffa.

    It is also called Socialism.

  8. Hibernating from Malta says:

Considering this morning’s article in The Times where Labour said they want more answers in regrads to Richard Cachia Caruana: There is one thing they don’t understand.

Richard Cachia was no ordinary civil servant because he was not an ordinary civil servant.

He was THE ambassador and envoy who had the utmost abilities, intellect and integrity which many of Labour’s star admittedly lack to the point of jealousy.

For the PL any civil servant, from top to bottom, is equivalent to a supermarket bill, irrespective of the talent, abilities, efforts and work they have done.

Labour still thinks of civil servants in terms of ‘skrivan’, ‘purtinar’ and ‘messagier’ – roles which have long be substituted by more knowledgeable and yes, better paid talent in our civil service. If you want the best of the best talent and work, you’ve got to pay for it, as any other private company or government does.

Maybe that same person could find a word for Europe’s situation where totally bankrupt nations are supposed to conjure infinite trillions of non-existent electronic credits to bailout insolvent and corrupt financial institutions ad nauseam.

Should be quite a colourful word.

(I know there’s a snowball’s chance of hell of this being posted -negative Euro slant and all that, I know you by now, but…we live in hope).

  10. Jozef says:

    Agreed.

I would also add that ineptocracy expects to be a member of union for the financial help, but is irked at the responsibilities, standards and rigorous policy that come with membership.

Ineptocracy then, yearns to sit on its ass threatening the veto whenever teamwork for the common good is required and gloats at other members’ predicament in the name of cosy indolence.

  11. Fido says:

I will have it composed of gilted bronze letters set over a nice piece of dark velvet and have it framed, so that when a Labour government is elected, I will be able to hang it in the sitting-room for the duration. The decor will be in line with the tastes of the average Labour supporter.

  12. Anthony says:

Tutto il mondo e’ un paese.

Ineptocratic (read socialist) Hollande has discovered the hofra.

35 billion euros according to the Cour des Comptes.

After less than a month he fabricated an excuse to renege on his promises to a a gullible (ineptocratic) electorate.

Anka Sarko’ ghamel bhal Burgulivier, Fenech Adami u GongiPN.

    Halla il-kaxxa vojta.

  13. Frankie Narcono says:

Franco Debono is so keen to bring down a system of defective meritocracy, or so he says, that he is going to land us with a perfectly functional system of ineptocracy.

  14. P Shaw says:

Joseph Muscat is a typical example of Peter Principle – where people are ‘promoted’ beyond their abilities’.
