Here’s something else little Jeffy won’t find on Facebook.

There’s a big debate going on in the USA on whether dentists should be allowed to inject botox.

Quote: ‘Would you go to a plastic surgeon for a root canal or tooth extraction? Hopefully not. A dentist who injects botox or fillers could face discipinary proceedings including suspension or loss of licence.’ Robert L. Kraft MD, New York.

What qualifications are required in Malta in order to administer the procedure? Anyone know?

None. Many of the dentists who do these procedures have undergone some training of about one week.

As I said before, we tend to follow the UK on this procedure.

The General Dental Council of the UK wanted to stop dentists giving botox and fillers.

The medical liability insurances were up in arms and said that dentists have sturdier hands and give a better infiltration injections and therefore have had very few complaints.

Three years ago, the insurances put up the premiums by £6000 to the already high individual professional insurances and there are more than 7000 dental practitioners and that means more than £4,000,000 extra for their coffers.

The above does not mean that I am defending JPOS as I find his behavior obnoxious and very demeaning. Red Indians in Western films used to say that people like JPOS speak with a forked tongue.

  2. Thank you, Charles.

Your reply must be of much comfort to prospective ‘boxtosees’.

No qualifications necessary, just stick in the needle, inject and ‘voila’, rejunified.

Now I know why all those smiling young faces in the society pics of 10 to 20 years ago, although still there in the current mags, have ‘trout pouts’ and frozen faces.

Jeffy, not only are you a sickly menace to parliamentary democracy, but as a drunken dentist, you are now allowed to disfigure people and actually get paid for the deed.

Ciccio, what we need in Malta are guidelines on these procedures before some nasty accident happens.

I intend to send a letter to the Medical Council so that this issue is taken in hand.
