A reader has sent me an item of marketing collateral produced for Labour star candidate Manuel Mallia’s electioneering campaign.
It’s in the shape of one of those Do Not Disturb/Please Clean My Room notices designed to be hung on the door-knobs of hotel rooms.
The PDF arrived with the following email:
Attached for your viewing pleasure. No one seems to have picked up on the fact that the past tense of “to lead” is not “lead” as in “lead balloon”.
And you’ve got to love his tag line, “We all deserve much better!”. You bet.

Strong values… Especially when filling up water in jerry cans.
For Labour the past tense of lead is ‘leaded’ as in leaded pitlor.
Paul Bonnici: The PL has a leader who is the envy of GonziPN, both for his academic qualifications as well as his gentlemanly behaviour and manners . And his charisma is far above that of awrence Gonzi. That’s Labour today . While GonziPN is “Apartheid”, according to John Dalli.
He was kind enough not to include his picture.
Maryanne: Why , do you fancy Gonzi’s face more than that of Dr. Mallia ??? How’s your eyesight ?
F’ismek b’serjeta’ hila u professjonalita’
Oh the irony.
Also, are you sure that the thing is not for, ahem, some other type of “knob”?
I inserted my knob. It’s a PERFECT fit.
But I still ain’t voting for you, Leli.
Yesterday evening, EMM was parked on a double yellow line outside his home near Hastings garden in Valletta. Dik serjeta. We deserve better.
Just give us the name of a lawyer in GonziPN’s list of new candidates who is if the same high standard as Dr. Emmanuel Mallia – also an ex-PN !
