Anton Refalo: he was very cuddly as a baby. Now he has a mind of his own.

Sent in by ‘lola’, beneath my post about Labour MP Anton Refalo’s statement on banning fireworks:

He is an only son, and was very cuddly as a baby.

I remember him going to school accompanied by his mother carrying his bag.

He was very much protected.

I am sure today he has a mind of his own and can say his views.

Lola, this is absolutely brilliant. Your comment drove me to his website, where I read these opening lines on his home-page:

ABOUT ANTON REFALO

Anton Refalo is a household name in Gozo, not only as an established Gozitan representative to the House of Parliament but also as one of this island’s leading lawyers.

In fact, he graduated as a lawyer in 1980 at the tender age of 24 and has never looked back ever since. Married to Lina nee’ Buttigieg and a proud father of two charming children, Andrè and Simona.

Anton never misses an opportunity to strike out at the various setbacks that his native island faces when compared to the Maltese ‘mainland’.

He graduated in law at the tender age of 24, eh? Really tender – a whopping great 24-year-old man. And six years is the normal duration of the law course anyway: people start at 18 and finish at 24. Unless they are Franco Debono, who starts at 17, drops out, goes back at 20 and graduates at the tender age of 26.

Did his mother still carry his bag at the tender age of graduation?

A twat with a biography to match.

It’s nice to see that the cookies are spread evenly. Good luck, Joseph.

I am older than him, and we lived just a street away. That is why I know him as a child.

His grandfather had a wine shop in St. Francis Square, Victoria. Being an only son he was the apple of the family’s eye. More so when he became a lawyer.

He should phone Franco up and meet for coffee – -or wine

He played water polo with Austin Gatt. They both played for the Penguins in Marsalforn. They were on the same side then.

If these comments were made in the UK, Ian Hislop and Paul Merton would have to film extra episodes of “Have I got news for you” to be able to squeeze in all these gems.
