Jeff and Jazza have a Cunning Plan

Published: November 29, 2012 at 11:59am

Jeffrey and Jesmond were head to head in parliament for most of the budget speech, whispering away like two old ladies in an opera box.

And Jeffrey, so voluble on Facebook about his birthday cake, his birthday plans, and his spaghetti dinners, is totally silent on the matter of the budget. Because you know, it’s important for the electorate to know what a politician does on his birthday but absolutely of no interest to them what he plans to do in parliament or what he thinks about the budget measures.

That silence is telling.

I’m beginning to wonder whether this is now all still only about revenge, or whether Jeffrey intends to have under Labour the (positive as opposed to negative) power and influence he does not have under this government.

It has become increasingly obvious that he hopes to play a significant role under the upcoming Labour government, either indirectly through Mrs Pullicino Orlando II (a committed Labour activist and fixture on Super One) or directly as the person who did so much harm to this government and helped the rise of Labour.

….and all thanks also to you for having given your fair share in bringing this about, by your vote last time you were asked to cast it.

As Franco would have it “hu go fik”. :o) (Do take it as a joke, as its meant to be one).

I think that JPO will vote in favour of the budget.

He knows that Franco Debono will vote against so he will leave the dirty work to him.

JPO will come out smelling of roses while Franco would have jeopordised his political and legal careers even further.

I believe this will happen because JPO seems to be much more cunning than Franco.

Now that’s a plan… get someone to convince Franco to leave the dirty work to Jeffrey.

    • Macduff says:

I haven’t yet understood the fuss about Franco. He can do whatever he likes, the budget can still get through with the Speaker’s vote. Am I right?

      The real trouble is Jeffrey.

If the budget fails, come January the government might not be authorized to effect any payments of any sort. That might include wages, pensions, etc

    • Gahan says:

I happened to watch part of TV Hemm where ex journalist/PL MP Gino Cauchi told Mario Demarco that the government could still pay its dues without the Budget being passed, Labour will make good for it.

You have Gino’s word for it !

That’s how informal and trivial we can get and how Labour respects the rule of law.

During the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe (CSCE) we were discussing the prior notification of military movements as a confidence building measures when a Swiss army colonel pointed out that an unexpected silence on miliary activity could be more sinister.

Don’t be so sure Just me. We are dealing with f***ing psychos. And you”ll never know a psycho unless you climb into his skin and crawl around it.

It’s as cunning as it could be. Hatched by the local secret squirrel in San Anton Gardens. Even Baldrick could look up to this one.

My take is that JPO will abstain, Franco vote against and am not sure what Jazza will do.

To me the most resentful for not being made minister again this time round has always been Jazza who held back for reasons best known to him. However, Dec 10 may well offer him his last chance to try and hit back.

It could prove very costly for him though, as this administration will still be running this country for a couple more months.
