So, is there going to be an investigation into whether John Dalli was rewarded for (controversially) lifting the GMO ban?

The accounts given by two witnesses in the prosecution of Silvio Zammit echo each other: that EU Commissioner John Dalli was “prepared to take risks” in lifting the ban on snus “just as he did with lifting the ban on GMOs”.
The insinuation here is obvious. And of course, nobody is at all surprised, which doesn’t say much for Dalli’s reputation even before he left Malta.

This ia a challange to OLAF.
The ‘prison in Brussels’ could have been so much better than the prospect of the real thing over here. The grass did not turn out to be greener on the other side of that particular fence.

Dalli was ready to take risks. No wonder Zammit appointed specialists from the Gaming Authority.
At the time, I commented that the GMO business stunk and was surprised at the lack of interest shown by our NGOs.
I guess it didn’t involve GonziPN pruning some kerbside ficus.
In his testimony, Gafa said that Zammit organised a meeting for Thomas Hammargren from British American Tobacco subsidiary Nicoventures.
From the way things are unfolding, one now wonders whether there was a charge for that meeting too.
