The comments coming in today are so good that I think I’ll take a bit of a break

Has ANYONE even noticed that we’ve been reduced to GUESSING Labour’s electoral programme?

I mean my god, WHERE is our intellectual class?

We’re out of the arena of political opinion and into sheer immorality here. Vote for the unknown. Give us a chance and you’ll see.

Go on take a leap in the dark. And they call it European progressive politics?

Another break! hekk sewwa il partit ihalsek sabiex tikteb dan il-blogg u int hsiebek fil-brejks. ;)

  2. Joseph Attard says:

I find it strange that someone like you would make reference to class of any type to be honest.

[Daphne – How do you know who Baxxter is? I certainly don’t.]

    • H.P. Baxxter says:

“Intellectual class” means our journalists, writers, talkshow hosts, academics, columnists, opinion-makers, business leaders, engineers, medical professionals, artists, IT professionals and anyone who uses their brains for a living.

I think I’ll start handing out dictionaries, like Gideons Bibles.

      • La Redoute says:

Konrad Mizzi uses his brain for a living. So what does that tell you?

      • bystander says:

Taxi for Baxxter,…….. taxi for Baxxter.

      • silvio says:

Baxxter, I don’t , and don’t care who you are.

All I can say is that from what and how you write, it makes me believe that you are one of those stupid persons, who I presume was, unfortunately, born stupid, and you out do yourself in proving that you are, STUPID.

I have no pity for you but I must confess that I pity your mother and if she is still around,” please madam do not despair there might still be a cure for your son “.

[Daphne – Actually, Silvio, the way Baxxter writes indicates sharp intelligence at the upper end of the scale. Your failure to notice that indicates the opposite.]

      • H.P. Baxxter says:

How is this even related to my comment? In any case, you should be grateful if I’m stupid. That’s one more vote for Labour’s Pandora’s Manifesto.

      • john says:

Silvio never loses an opportunity to display his dumbassedness.

      • Harry Purdie says:

Silvio, you are way off base here. I know Baxxter personally, we meet often and I have never left without being more impressed with his intellect and love for his country.

Your comment only indicates a depraved, morbid, and unfeeling mentality, very typical of the party (movement?) you support.

    • Paul Bonnici says:

I rarely praise people, but if I had to praise anyone in Malta, it would be H.P. Baxxter.

Sorry Daphne, no offence meant, but sometimes I read H.P. Baxxter comments before I read your blog.

      You described Baxxter perfectly.

    • R.Borg says:

I do not know who baxxter is. But i do know that he writes good. Sometimes I agree with him, sometimes i do not. But that is life. I have learned to live with all that life has to offer.

I read this block to educate myself, to know what others are saying, like I read other blocks.

One word of advice, if I may:- I am no `laburist` as the word should be pronounced nor am I a `nazzjonalist` , I am a floater, has been since KMB decieded that no other then labourites are allowed in Zejtun. I have since then voted PN. This time. i have still not made up my mind, i am evaluating what is being said, and then i will cast my vote according to what I believe is the best for myself and family and Malta.
But certain regular writers to this blogg leaves a lot to be desired. And I learn from what they write also!

Baxxter please keep writing, its the only way one can learn.

  3. Jozef says:

Perhaps this blog is the intellectual class?

  4. La Redoute says:

Intellectual class is a de facto category. Even half wits are able to recognise that there are differences in intellectual ability, hence the need to parade the letters behind one’s name.

  5. Natalie says:

Exactly who do these people think they are? Some kind of children’s party magician?

So where has the coin gone? Behind your ear? Nooo. Inside your pocket? Nooo! Let’s distract you a bit and make an animal balloon. And look, the coin changed into a rabbit!

Enough of these gimmicks and fooling around. We’re looking for a party to lead this country and make us even better than we are today.

I can’t vote for a party that’s not even bothering to disclose its agenda. Or for a PM that’s insulting me by telling me, you don’t have to know how we’re going to decrease your bills, just trust me and I’ll take full responsibility for it, as if that means anything.

    Enough with the smokescreen.

    • bystander says:

I have been calling him the Ginger Magician for years.

He campaigns against the EU, then whoosh (clouds of smoke) turns up an MEP.

When pushed on the matter he simply dismisses it all as a ‘mistake’.

      One dangerous c*nt.

      • Tinnat says:

¨Dangerous¨ is indeed the best word to describe him. What makes him even more dangerous is that he seems so harmless.

  6. marks says:

If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it – Joseph Goebbels.

We have become so used to the mediocrity of the LP that when they present something with a bit of professionalism most people believe it.

To vote for the LP simply for a reduction of energy bills and forgetting everything else about the economy is beyond crazy.

Can any journalist get Muscat or any Labour exponent to answer a direct question about their plans before the election? Lou Bondi certainly didn’t.

    • Jozef says:

He may not answer questions posed by journalists, but he’ll have to answer those by EU analysts when the tender’s launched.

Mizzi was unable to deflect Tonio’s point that their terminal isn’t considered gas infrastructure. Not when it isolates Malta from the grid.

      Oops.

  7. giraffa says:

I am amazed at how the Labour-controlled local councils of Marsaxlokk, Zejtun and Birzebbugia have not pronounced themselves on this project, considering that they raised hell before whenever the extension to the power station and other energy projects were planned for their areas.

Hypocrites as ever, same as the GWU who do not realise that were this project to materialise, Enemalta would be downsized and employees shown the back exit.

    • bystander says:

Be fair. The private investors will need staff. Who better than Enemalta’s finest. (I’ll get me coat)

  8. el bandido guapo says:

The power station maths just does not add up, wonder how not many people have picked up on this.

The only “new” thing that Labour promises is a new power station.

Konrad Mizzi states that this will produce 40% of the power.

This means that the cost per unit by this plant will need to be reduced to 37.5% of what it is today (15c not 18c) just so that a 25% overall decrease can be afforded (forget covering any overheads).

A unit generated cost of 5.6c

    But Labour promises 9.6c.

    Ergo, impossible.

Obviously they will state that the reduction will also come from conversion of the existing new PS to gas, and the interconnector.

    But these are PN projects.

    • Joseph Attard says:

Sorry, I thought the new PS ran on dirty filthy heavy fuel oil because the GonziPN geniuses refused to listen to people who knew what the hell they were talking about and design it around a cleaner fuel instead. So according to you the new PS, a PN project is already running on gas and they are just pretending that it runs on dirty filthy heavy fuel oil.

      [Daphne – Tsk tsk, Tyrrell.]

  9. Paul Borg says:

LP’s energy plans are based on many assumptons. Lets hope that they are not the same assumptions that wanted to make us think that the no vote won the referendum, that we should follow Cyprus, that we should not join the Euro and that we should adopt the living-wage.

  10. La Redoute says:

So now Muscat’s announced new solar panel parks, new energy audits, new schemes to replace appliances and new kits for water saving, all of it to be financed by government.

He STILL doesn’t say how it’ll be financed because it’ll involve more taxes.

    • Jozef says:

      I’ll have this one.

      http://www.smeg50style.com/it/storie/istruzioni-cucire-un-frigorifero

Remember the ad where the guy kept his 501s in the fridge?

    • Toyger says:

The solar energy park + people being shareholder in it was already proposed by Gonzi during one of the Sunday activities last year, not sure if it was during the ta Giorni, Mellieha or Qrendi one. So nothing new from Muscat there…

Schemes to replace appliances is already available by a private appliances shop…again, nothing new…if other shops want more sales they should do the same.

Subsidies on renewable energy already given by the present PN government..

Dr Muscat, apart from this new power station (privatisation of enemalta) scheme you are proposing, is there any new idea that is not borrowed from Dr Gonzi?

  11. Vanni says:

Labour’s blue ties, blue backgrounds are inevitably followed with the use of the most Nationalist of slogans: “Malta Taghna”.

    • A.Attard says:

“Viva Malta! Malta e’ dei Maltesi e non degli Inglesi. Fuori lo straniero”

This slogan was shouted by Zaccaria Roncalli in 8th September 1885 during a meeting held by the Partito Nazzionale of Fortunato Mizzi u commemorate the Great Siege.

Which precisely translates to Malta taghna.

  12. MuHaHa says:

Regarding PL’s energy proposal – reducing by 25% my electricity bills would mean a total reduction of almost €150 a year. Sorry Dr Muscat, I am not that cheap.

    • Joseph Attard says:

Yes just you stick with that old thief Gonzi. better him nicking €600 a week than you saving €150 a year.

[Daphne – Oh, do cut it out, Tyrrell.]

      • Toyger says:

Some people, like you Joseph Attard, suffer from a condition known as selective deafness.

The wage increase was stopped Joseph, as they realised it was a mistake. So stop trying to make it sound as if they’re still getting it.

After all, your leader said that they will appoint a committee to assess the wages, and then they would abide by its suggestions. They never denied that if this committee suggested an increase in wage they would not take it.

  13. Lestrade says:

Is HE standing on another soapbox ? One could write a psychology dissertation about his aversion to being vertically challenged.

  14. John Zammit says:

Well boys, it’s candle time again for Christmas future when dear Joseph and Eva Peron take over Castille.

  15. John Bisazza says:

    Silvio,

I have always been under the impression that you are a rather calm person who tries to keep up a healthy conversation peppered with bouts of humour.

In this respect I am rather amazed at your comments addressed to H.P. Baxxter which I consider rather rough.

I would advise you to keep calm and not let the electoral campaign ruin your sense of serenity. Try and maintain your usual ‘bahbuh’ outlook.

    • maryanne says:

Yes, that’s what I was thinking. His comments were too harsh. Maybe Baxxter hit some raw nerve.

If Baxxter is stupid, I’m afraid there are no adjectives to describe silvio.
